Currently, MoveNeutral purchases carbon offsets in the form of American-based renewable energy from Native Energy. Native Energy is based in the United States and is well respected for the quality of their renewable building projects.

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) - also referred to as Green tags, Renewable Energy Credits, or Tradable Renewable Certificates (TRCs). When a utility generates one kilowatt hour of renewable energy, one REC is generated. The renewable energy is then fed into the energy grid and mixed with the other energy for provision to corporate and residential customers. Utilities may either sell renewable energy with the REC in one package or sell each separately. Because the provision of energy to the grid (and ultimately to the customer) is the same for any type of energy, the REC is considered the legal representation of the renewable energy. Accordingly, by purchasing a REC, a company or user may effectively replace one kilowatt hour of energy produced according to conventional carbon emitting fossil fuels with one kilowatt hour of energy produced by renewable methods. Some have criticized RECs due to the concept of additionality. NativeEnergy offers Green-e certified RECs. Green-e is a respected third-party certification organization (operated by the Center for Resource Solutions ), for meeting the additionality criterion. Purchase of RECs help subsidize the production of renewable energy as well as compete with conventional energy production methods.
